An appropriately frantic satire that perfectly captures the headspace of Toronto in 2012 and 2013, when the city seemed just seconds away from exploding into total mayhem.”

“It nails the dark absurdity of the story…”
The Globe and Mail

“Rob Ford would probably have laughed his head off…”
The Toronto Sun

TORONTO (March 27, 2019) – LaRue Entertainment announced today the cable premiere of their much buzzed-about and award-winning movie Filth City on Hollywood Suite, Wednesday, March 27th. The film set off a media frenzy in the lead-up to its world premiere at the 2017 Canadian Film Festival, reigniting a nationwide debate over embattled former Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford.

Filth City takes place in the fictional city of York, plagued by crime, corruption and a brutal garbage strike. With an election looming, the Mayor is caught on video smoking crack, and will do whatever it takes to keep it out of the wrong hands.

“We wanted to make a crime comedy that was authentic to Toronto and at the time the actual Mayor was running around town like Scarface…” said Andy King, Director and Writer of Filth City. “We’re thrilled Filth City has found a home on Hollywood Suite, airing alongside some of the greatest movies of all time.”

Filth City won Best Comedy and Best Ensemble Cast at the Canadian Film Festival and went on to garner a dozen more wins and over 50 nominations from festivals around the world.

Anchored by an award-winning performance from Pat Thornton (Sunnyside) as Mayor Tom Hogg, the diverse cast of veteran and up-and-coming Canadian talent includes Melinda Shankar (Slasher), Lamar Johnson (Dark Phoenix), Hannah Spear (Star Trek Discovery), Melanie Nicholls-King (The Wire) and Kenny Hotz (Kenny vs. Spenny). Filth City was directed by Andy King, written by King and Danny Polishchuk and produced by Matt King and Andrew Ferguson with support from the CMF, the government of Canada and the province of Ontario and is distributed by LaRue Entertainment worldwide.
